Speech-Language Pathologist PRN –Acute Care

Speech-Language Pathologist PRN acute care position requires the employee work at least one (1) weekend per month. Current hours are Saturday 10:00 a.m..-4:00 p.m. and Sunday 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. (11 hours total). Times subject to change as demand increases/decreases. Two therapists will be working each weekend to divide caseloads as appropriate. In addition, the PRN SLP agrees to work one (1) major holiday (Christmas/Thanksgiving) and up to two (2) minor holidays (New Year’s Day, MLK Day, Easter, July 4th, Memorial Day) per year. Holidays will be covered on an on-call basis with a 4 hour minimum guarantee. Holiday schedules change annually on a rotating basis.

PRN SLP employees must complete all Healthstream assignments in a timely fashion by their due date and check UMMC e-mail on a regular weekly basis for policy and procedure changes, charting requirements, CEU opportunities and possible provider or patient follow-up questions. Licensure and CEU requirements must be kept up to date and meet all state and ASHA requirements. PRN SLPs must also able to access the internet from home to be able to monitor consults when on-call for holidays or to fulfill any other workday/epic needs as they arise.

Should a PRN SLP not be able to work on their assigned date, the PRN SLP will be responsible for finding/switching coverage through the other PRN SLPs and notifying the department of the switch in coverage. Communication with UMMC SLP faculty and personnel is key and will be necessary throughout the year.

PRN SLPs are notified and given the opportunity to apply for any new Full-time Faculty open positions at UMMC prior to that open position being advertised to other professionals outside of UMMC. The applicant must meet all the qualifications for the position and have a good record of completing all PRN tasks and assignments and be a good fit for the treatment team.

The current PRN rate is $50 per hour/ no benefits.
